From the Battlefield Blog @ Battlefield.com:
For PC users:
As the title says, there is an update coming for the PC platform and it contains multiple changes to the game.
This update is in preparation for Map Pack 7 and Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Vietnam which is why the update will be approximately 2,6 GB in size. some of the fixes for the Xbox 360 were already rolled out in the previous PC patch. To see a full description, click here.
PC players might encounter some temporary outages or suffer from lag during the server updates (between GMT 08:00 2010-11-30 and GMT 08:01 2010-12-01).
Also make sure you run PBsetup.exe after updating to the latest version of the game.
Bad Company 2 VIP Map Pack 6

So I spoke too soon last night about BFBC2 needing a boost, this was announced a few hours ago on Facebook, however it appears the two staples didn’t get any love (Conquest, Rush):
Hi, Battlefield fans!
We have just released our sixth VIP Map Pack on PC, Xbox 360 and PS3. This means that you now will have the chance to play Squad Deathmatches on one of my absolute favorite maps, Panama Canal. You also have the opportunity to engage in fierce Squad Rush fights on Laguna Presa.
As per usual, the VIP Map Pack is free for new game buyers. If you picked up the game used, you can get a VIP code either through the Playstation Store/Live Marketplace, or via the in-game store. For PC players, this new content is free for all.
To give you a glimpse of the new action that awaits, here is our freshly squeezed trailer for the Map Pack. Enjoy!
Punkbuster Again…

How many times is this here? So I hoped into a Battlefield Bad Company 2 server on Team Rush (my favorite…Panama Canal), revive someone almost immediately, set the charge, kill someone and boom… An error on PunkBuster B not getting a handshake. Neat stuff. So I do an update…. I have 7 games installed that use PB…. Do they use dial up for updates at PB? These are relatively small files and it shows 10 minutes for the update!!! While updating, it hits Battlefield 2 and errors out that it can’t copy a file from the temp directory to Battlefield 2: error 3: the system cannot find the path specified, followed by error #0121: ERROR: Could not copy xxx to xxx during HTM conversion. I don’t use UAC so it’s not that. Good stuff, PunkBuster… You’re a quality company.
When I went out to download the latest version (I thought it took care of itself), it prompts me for a security verification code… Huh? To download a file? Are there people fraudulently downloading PunkBuster? The nerve of people!! Or is it that they suck so bad that people were downloading it over and over as a manor of a DoS attack? Who knows. Of course the update for a full install of, what 5, 10 mb(?) is now 34 minutes.
Battlefield Bad Company 2 Patch 2

The second BFBC2 patch has hit and it’s glorious, so far. I say that because EA/DICE seems to have a way of breaking something, somewhere, with patches much like the increased issues with the browser after the first patch hit. With that said, most of the issues they added with the browser seems to have been fixed. I played quite a few hours since the patch and I think I’ve had one crash to desktop (CTD) and I believe that was on a server loading and not from just clicking on the browser.
I’d still like to see some major improvements to the browser still. My biggest complaint is showing if a server is hard core. I don’t have an issue with hard core but 3 weeks in, I’d rather learn the maps, rather than hit a random server and find that as the option. I know I can click the arrow and look but it’d be 100x easier just to show it or choose it. I would really rather them just show more options on the right to include a < ping, > # of players, HC, and TK. I’m also fine with team kills as an option, since I played a large portion of BF2 and BF2142 with it on, but it’s nice to get use to the game and maps before jumping into them.
The game continues to be fun and I’d say my favorite maps are White Pass, Valparaiso, Nelson Bay and the Vietnam-like map that I can’t place at the moment, I think it’s Laguna Presa.
Also, if you have the previous games (including console games), be sure to swing by the Battlefield Veterans site to add your games. I believe it’s 2 games to 1 rank in BC2. I’m at 7 so far and waiting to see what happens with my BFV and the 2 1942 expansion packs but the site’s been down for a week now… blah!
Xbox “Experience”

I know that Xbox Live is going to be down this week for a day or so for updates so I assume it’s for the late fall update that they’re calling the New Xbox Experience. They have a video at Xbox.com talking about it but they really don’t focus too long on what it’s going to look like but I didn’t see the familiar blades as part of the interface. I guess we’ll see….
