The Battlefield 2142 1.40 patch has finally arrived after months of beta status….Apparently you can download it on the EA Downloader but I clicked on the “OK” in game, it started EA Downloader which showed Northern Strike and the BF2 xpacks but never showed the patch.  I don’t expect much else from EA.  I ended up downloading it from FilePlanet.

I didn’t play the Tampa Highway map during the 1.40 beta, I had tried out the beta and liked the fact that weapons actually stay from map to map but not tired the new map, Tampa Highway. The map isn’t too bad but as I had indicated in my last post EA/DICE continues to try to get people into other mods rather than catering to what people play the most. Tampa Highway is another sparse, large map with little grunt fighting. It’s to the point in this map where you can grab a tank at almost any base you may be at and again it’s an Assault Lines/Titan map.

For some reason they seem to think if they beat it into people enough that they’ll stop playing conquest for their alternatives. Again I’m not putting down the other mods but what the hell? Why is it so hard to just give people what they want and not try and club them with what the developers think players want?
